Van Gaal’s Injury Boost
United Boss confirms improving injury list
Louis Van Gaal has confirmed that only four of Manchester United’s squad are now currently injured, and that none of the players returning from international duty had picked up injuries.
“This morning, we didn’t need any players from the second team and that is a plus,” said van Gaal. “I am very happy because there are no injuries from the international games. I think we’re in a good way. The players who are recovering are not able to play and we have to wait and see for the line-up on Monday. But we have only four players injured now. That is good,” Van Gaal said.
It is thought the four injured players referred to are Paddy McNair, Jonny Evans, Antonio Valencia and Jesse Lingard. This news seem to confirm the imminent return of the in form Ander Herrera, whom it was initially feared would be out of action for six to eight weeks with a rib injury, picked up in the 2-1 victory over West Ham at Old Trafford.
It certainly is a timely boost for Van Gaal and United, as they head in to a tough run of fixtures, starting at the Hawthorns on Monday night, and then fixtures against the top two of Chelsea and manchester City. Wayne Rooney will be unavailable for selection for Monday’s West Brom game due to his ongoing suspension for a red card, but will return in time for the Manchester derby.
